The Heat..."Today's Champions...Tomorrow's Legends"
Thank you for visiting our website - Home of the 2007-2012 Cobb County Champions, 2008-2012 AAU District Champions, winners of the 2009 - 2012 AAU National Qualifiers, fifteen (30+) National Champions (50+ medals), over 65 National finalists (over 260 total medals), and hundreds of track and field, cross country, and road race competition championships, medalists and ribbon achievements! We hope that the information on this website provides you with some insight as to how our Club operates and the involvement of the athlete, parents and coaching Staff in working together to help all of our athletes be successful.
The Mission of The Heat is to motivate the athlete to aspire to achieve leadership, discipline and integrity through the sport of track and field and cross country running. The Heat is a community-based program that operates under the guidelines of the Cobb County Youth Track League (CCYTL), Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA), United States Association of Track and Field (USATF), Amateur Athletics Union (AAU), and the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). There are two track seasons. For those participating in the entire track season, it lasts for 6 months (approximately 3 months during the Spring and 3 months during the Summer). During these 6 months; we assist boys and girls, ages 6 -18, with training in track and field events and participation in developmental meets, as well as competitive local, regional and national meets such as the USATF and the AAU National Junior Olympics. From September through February, several of our athletes also participate in cross country and road races.
"The Heat is one of the few remaining local clubs that still train developmental as well as elite athletes", Club President, Blane Williams declares, "We do not recruit, we work with any and all athletes between the ages of six and 18 who register with our club and come to practice on our home track and campus at Kell High School ready to work and to commit to doing their best. If they have the desire and ability to be national champions, we have the vehicle to take them as far as they are able to go. Several athletes are looking forward to 2012 Olympics in London, and we will do our best to get them there."
Check out the Achievers page to see some of the accomplishments we achieved during our first eight years of existence.
The Heat is a self-governing, self-supporting Organization certified in the state of Georgia as a non-profit Corporation. The club is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, all donations are tax deductible. Sponsorship and in kind donations are welcome. For more information regarding sponsorships, please click here. We hope you take the time to not only peruse the information, but also to make an investment in our youth athletes.
This organization is open to girls and boys 6 years of age and over. The program is designed to meet the needs of all participants regardless of their performance level. The individual who makes the attempt is as much a part of the group as he or she who attains the highest level of achievement. The 2010 season will begin The Heat's eight year of operation. The club is comprised of 100% volunteer staff of parents who promote and support youth track. The club operates completely under The Heat Track Club By-Laws. Copies are available upon request only.
